A Perfect Springtime Wedding: Kate & Greg

A couple of weekends ago, we had the pleasure of celebrating Kate & Greg’s wedding. It was the perfect springtime wedding, and spoke to everything I love about weddings: shades of coral, decadent peonies and tender moments between family and friends.

Kate and I met while I was working with former La Belle Fleur Event’s bride: Mandy. It was over a year in the making of us working together, and it was a sad day when it was all over! Springtime Wedding-Chicago Wedding Planner-Coral Weddings

The sun was shinning bright that day, and the emotions were running high.

Lush peonies and gorgeous ranunculus adorned the reception.

And, this pink ombré cake was just dreamy.

My favorite moment of the night goes to Kate’s dad, though. He had me in tears after his toast, and I have to say, that doesn’t happen often for me!

Thank you Kate & Greg for letting me celebrate with you! To many years of happiness! xo

Special thanks to Kina Wicks for the incredible photos! You rock, doll!

Mother’s Day with TipsyCake

This year, we celebrated Mother’s Day with TipsyCake Chicago. It was such a lovely day, and we loved being apart of it. It’s especially nice when my family can come to an event that I’m hosting!

The team at TipsyCake created a lovely formal tea for all the guests. The amazing mothers enjoyed decadent treats like mini-sandwiches, scones and, decadent desserts. Of course, I ate all the macaroons.

Ashley Biess was there to capture all the fun, and even took some lovelies of me and Mama La Fleur! Thanks doll!

For the event, I picked up some small vases at the thrift store, and spray painted them with glittery gold. The floral arrangements were created with the most gorgeous peonies and rananculas.

The Perfect Spring Palette

It’s finally starting to warm up here in Chicago, and while the last few days have been filled with rain, I’m getting all sorts of excited because so many designers have launched their spring collections with my favorite wedding colors. They all contain the perfect spring palette: hues of blues, sea foam green, lavender and, oh my fave, coral…

Sage Wedding Pros Workshop | Recap

This week, I had the pleasure to attend the Sage Wedding Pros Workshop. It was such an amazing experience not only personally but for the growth of La Belle Fleur Events. I met so many amazing people, (Hey Lindsey, Lynzie and Emily!) and am so thankful for everyone to be so honest with their personal experiences. Pure dolls!

The Simple Plan is designed to help wedding professionals create their business plans, and run a smarter and more efficient wedding business. Michelle and Kelly make it so simple that I wanted to shout from the rooftops. Everything from mission statements, marketing plans and financial statements…phew. You’d think that would be overwhelming, but our group kept it fun and exciting.

Two of my favorite parts of the shop…

I absolutely loved getting to meet so many different wedding professionals. It was amazing to meet not only so many talented Chicago professionals, but creative professional throughout North America.

The most impact, though, was in how much more confident I became in myself. I am so excited that La Belle Fleur Events will be undergoing a makeover in the next few months, and will be launching all bright and shiny in 2014. You’re going to love it. Promise!

Southern Weddings: Peach & Coral

In early January, I had the idea to explore my current favorite wedding colors: coral and peach. As a Chicago wedding planner, I was dreaming of somewhere warmer to design and plan a wedding…and then it hit me: southern weddings!

After visiting Charleston in March, I was in love. I was surrounded by the ocean, exploring gorgeous plantations, and surrounded by beautiful camellias. I was in heaven.

I had an amazing team who helped bring my vision to life, and I could not be happier with how everything turned out. It had my heart feeling warm on such a chilly March day! There are even some photos of yours truly, and a promo video that will be released soon. xoxo.

Chicago Weddings on the Lake: Sarah & Bill

Happy Valentine’s Day, Dolls! I am so excited to share Sarah & Bill’s wedding with all of you especially because of their love for the color red.
Sarah and Bill grew up in Michigan, and were high school sweethearts. Sarah says she fell in love with Bill on a study abroad trip to Germany. Nearly 10 years later, the two said I-Do at the stunning River East Art Center. With the windows, long galleries, and open-air concept, this was the perfect backdrop for their July affair.

I have a couple faves from the day:
In lieu of a traditional guest book, we had guests write notes to Sarah & Bill, and put them in an anniversary box of their choice. The two will read the notes on the corresponding anniversary for years to come.

Sarah and Bill attended rival universities and to keep it fun for the guests during cocktail hour, we had rival corn hole games going. Indiana vs Michigan!

As favors, guests received hand-made Michigan wine that Sarah’s mom made. I loved how Sarah and Bill incorporated their Michigan roots into their Chicago wedding.

Every table was named after a place that Sarah & Bill traveled to together.

We ended the night with a sparkler exit. It was just any old sparkler either! They were two feet long! It was the perfect way to end such a special day. Sarah walked through the sparklers with tears of joy running down her face. As she got into the car beaming, she looked at me and yelled ‘thank you Ashley!’ Thank you Sarah & Bill; I truly loved being apart of your wedding day.

Chicago Floral Designers: Jan & Jillian of Natural Beauties Floral

The lovely ladies of Natural Beauties Floral are sharing with you today! Their floral designs are as gorgeous as they are inside and out! Jan&JillianYuhas

What do you do?: We specialize in custom floral design for wedding, events, and gift bouquets. Our designs are a collaboration of the designers’ artistry, the client’s personality, the venue’s aesthetic and the essence of nature.

How did you get into what you’re doing?: We began designing floral arrangements at the age of eight. Our grandmother, a Master Gardener and Designer, taught us the basic techniques to floral design. Our true love began to flourish as we competed in county fairs and Illinois state fair finding our ultimate passion in floral creations. After attending floral school, that’s when we decided to follow our passion and open our very own floral boutique.

What is your favorite part of your work?: Our favorite part of owning a floral business is designing with various textures, color palettes, and styles. We love selecting novelty flowers and combining them with well known beauties to create intricate detailed designs. Having the freedom to choose specific blooms allows us to create something unique and original each time. It’s always exhilarating to style weddings and events, as the possibilities are endless.  We absolutely love our job!  We never find ourselves in a state of boredom, and we are grateful for this. The artistic craft behind floral designing really speaks to us, so naturally we never feel like we are at “work”.

Wedding Bouquets

What are your favorite flowers to work with?: Our favorite flowers to work with? That’s a tough question to answer. We love so many beauties it’s really hard to pick just one. We focus on choosing flowers that are of high quality, vivid coloring, and unique in shape and texture . We define flowers as having feminine or masculine qualities. So depending on the style of bouquet or arrangement, it’s important for us to select flowers that will produce a cohesive design within a particular style. To name a few, we really love feminine sweet peas, peonies, garden roses, and masculine calla lilies and orchids.

Where do you take inspiration from?: We take inspiration from all areas of our lifestyles. We both really love interior design, traveling, fashion, and music. Whether we are cruising through a magazine, off wandering on our latest adventure, or watching the latest runway shows, we take mental notes we will later incorporate into our floral creations. It’s an ever changing design world, so it’s important to really keep up to par with the latest trends.

What is something most people don’t know about you?: We grew up in the middle of the woods. Most people may not know this because we have become city girls. However, our heart and passion for flowers began with scavenger hunting through the countryside finding roadside beauties.

Wedding Ceremony Aisle Decor

What is your favorite beauty item?: Our favorite beauty item is mascara.  When doing business eye contact is always key, so having our eyelashes done is a must.

What can’t you leave the house without?: A good pair of shoes. We love Frye boots. Being the independent women we are, we have to be able to stand on our own two feet; and that means being comfortable when designing all day!

 Happy Sunday Friends! xo
